REA is a stock/business we like at MM, and we raise our hands to say we took profit too early in 2023. The stock rallied 2.6% on Wednesday, making it the 5th best performer on the main board, interestingly on a day when the correlated tech stocks struggled and property names trod water.

We liked their recent 1Q sales update, with their Australian Residential business enjoying a strong quarter with revenue up 12%, but again, this is a bond yield play into Christmas.

REA is correlated to both the real estate and tech sectors, a great combination at this stage of the cycle. The last few week's 15% pullback feels like a washout of the weak longs, which could easily produce a sharp reversal higher into Christmas – this week looks like it already!

REA Group Ltd (REA) $137.57

REA jumped +3.4% yesterday buoyed by the combination of strong Real Estate & Tech Sectors, at this stage we don’t see any reason to fade either of these respective moves. Ten days ago Macquarie came out with their “7 safe haven stocks” plus 2 sells one of which was REA, ultimately they may prove to be on point but the timing feels off following Wednesday’s CPI, perhaps they should have angled towards 7 recovery stocks!
