Nicholas Forsyth 
Director 

Having worked as a Senior Investment Advisor for various investment firms, Nicholas Forsyth identified a massive gap between the strategies adopted, and quality information being received by the high-net worth investors, and the everyday retail investors. This was particularly clear for Nicholas as his own father, who when recently retired, was in need quality investment advice to manage his retirement fund.

Prior to starting Market Matters, Nicholas worked as an Advisor at Peloton Capital, a company specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory and corporate activity. He also worked at Fat Prophets as a Senior Client Advisor and advised many high net worth clients.

Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance and Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney, a Diploma of Professional Stockbroking from the Stockbrokers Association of Australia and a Diploma in Business Management.

 

James Gerrish*

James Gerrish is a Senior Adviser within Shaw and Partners, one of Australia’s leading Wealth Management firms with approximately $10 billion of assets under advice. James and his team deal with institutional and high net worth individual clients within Australia & abroad, having built an enviable track record over the past decade.

James holds a Bachelor of Management (Accounting), is one of Shaw and Partners' primary contributor to mainstream media including weekly appearances on Sky Business, is RG146 accredited and a Level 2 Accredited Derivatives Adviser.

James adds a fresh dynamic to the Market Matters team, a wealth of market knowledge & experience, a pragmatic approach to communicating his views and above all, he is passionate about bridging the gap between institutional level insight and the retail investor.

Nicholas Holt 
Market Strategist

Nicholas Holt is an experienced equities & derivative trader who has spent the last decade dealing primarily with institutional and wholesale clients. Nick commenced his career with Goldman Sachs JB Were in the mid 90’s dealing largely in derivatives for hedge fund clients before moving to Macquarie Group in 2004.

For the next decade at Macquarie Nick provided advice in equities and derivatives with a focus on active portfolio positioning and shorter term investment management, hedging and risk management.

Nick has an enviable reputation as a straight talking, articulate markets professional and is passionate about sharing his knowledge with other investors to assist with making the right decisions in the market.

 

Alexander Aguilan*  
Contributor

Alexander is an equities & derivatives trader within Shaw and Partners, with primary responsibility for the execution of all trades within James’ team. Alexander has over a decade of experience in the financial markets encompassing trading in equities, derivatives, futures and foreign exchange. Having previously worked at Macquarie Bank, Alexander is an experienced adviser, committed to helping clients gain the best possible outcomes in the market.

Alexander holds a Diploma of Professional Stockbroking from the Stockbrokers Association of Australia and a Diploma of Financial Markets (AFMA). Alexander is RG146 accredited and a Level 2 Accredited Derivatives Adviser.

Vanessa Chin 
Senior Client Advisor 

Vanessa has worked as a Senior Client Manager in financial services for nearly a decade. Prior to joining Market Matters, she was a Senior Client Advisor at Fat Prophets for four years. Specializing in retail investment within the Australian and global share market, she has always had an avid interest in wealth creation and wealth management within the retail-finance space. 

Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Economics, with a double major in Economics and Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney. She also has a Diploma of Advanced Business Mandarin obtained from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China, and she holds the relevant RG-146 qualifications to provide specialized general advice in relation to Australian securities and investments.
